Building a collective culture

Camps play a vital role in fostering connection and personal growth.

At the beginning of the year, our Year 7 camp provides new students with a welcoming environment to build friendships, develop confidence, and become familiar with school life. Additionally, our new Year 12 camp is designed to strengthen teamwork and prepare senior students for the challenges of the HSC year ahead, creating a supportive space to focus on goal-setting and resilience.

Both camps are important opportunities to enhance student wellbeing and cultivate a strong sense of community across year groups.

Student led events

A vibrant showcase of creativity, leadership, and school spirit.

Throughout the year, students organise and run exciting activities that bring the whole school community together. Highlights include Valentine’s Day celebrations, Halloween, Battle of the Bands, and the inspiring World's Greatest Shave fundraiser.

These events provide valuable opportunities for students to develop confidence, teamwork, and organisational skills while creating memorable experiences for everyone involved.

Celebrating Student Success

Celebrating student success is a cornerstone of our school culture.

We proudly recognise achievements through regular Year Assemblies and whole school Celebration Assemblies, where students’ academic, sporting, and community contributions are acknowledged. Our Graduation and Presentation Night stands as highlights of the year, celebrating the achievements and dedication of our students.

These celebrations inspire all students to strive for their personal best and foster a positive and supportive school environment.

Authentic learning experiences

we are committed to providing authentic learning experiences that engage students beyond the classroom.

Our Year 7 Surf Week offers students an exciting opportunity to develop water safety skills, build confidence, and connect with the coastal environment in a hands-on setting. Meanwhile, the Year 11 Life Ready program prepares senior students for life beyond school by focusing on practical skills, career planning, and personal development.

These programs help students apply their learning in real-world contexts, fostering independence, resilience, and lifelong skills.

Coming together through carnivals

Our annual Swimming, Athletics, and Cross-Country Carnivals are key events that celebrate fitness, determination, and school community.

These carnivals provide students with exciting opportunities to compete, support their peers, and demonstrate their sporting skills across a variety of disciplines.

Emphasising teamwork, sportsmanship, and inclusion, students of all abilities are encouraged to participate, ensuring these days are memorable and inspiring for everyone involved.

Many of our talented athletes go on to represent the school at zone and regional levels, showcasing their skills and commitment beyond the College.

Showcasing Talent Through Creative and Performing Arts

We offer a vibrant platform for students to explore and showcase their talents.

We proudly stage a bi-annual school musical that brings the community together in celebration of student creativity. Year 7 students can join the Film Club, while our Dance and Drama Ensembles provide dynamic opportunities for performance and expression. Many of our students also participate in the prestigious School Spectacular, highlighting their skills on a grander stage.

Additionally, our P&C supports a range of Music Ensembles, including Concert, Wind, Jazz, and Rock Bands, enriching the cultural life of the school and providing diverse opportunities for musical engagement.

Build teamwork through sport

Sport plays an important role in promoting teamwork, fitness, and school pride.

We field various knockout teams across a range of sports, including Volleyball, Rugby, and AFL, giving students the chance to compete and develop their skills at a high level. Additionally, our P&C actively supports the school’s participation in local Basketball and Soccer competitions, providing further opportunities for students to engage in sport within the wider community.

Through these programs, students experience the benefits of healthy competition, camaraderie, and school spirit.

"As a father of daughters in Year 12 and Year 7, I'm really happy with Rose Bay Secondary College.

In particular, the friendships my children have developed with a diverse group of people have been wonderful. Their friends are such a wonderful group and a credit to the school.

Academically, I've been very pleased - their teachers are totally aware of them as individuals - their strengths, their personalities and as learners. You get a specialised attention that helps them grow.

It's a fantastic place and I'm grateful that my daughters love going to school every day! ”
