Tournament of Minds has been running at Rose Bay Secondary College for the past few years. For one afternoon a week during Terms 2 and 3, students from Years 7 to 10 learn skills in team building, lateral thinking, improvisation, drama, problem solving and creativity. Students participate in a range of activities including short term problems (where they have four minutes to solve a problem and then two minutes to present a creative response) and a long term problem (for six weeks). All of this is in preparation for the Regional Competition in August where students write, direct and perform a ten minute solution to an open-ended problem. Each team must have a minimum of two Year 7 students. This year we submitted two very talented and excited teams to the competition. They performed admirably against very stiff competition and were commended on their creativity and social support.
