It is with great delight that the Bob Bellear Memorial Library officially opened its doors on the December 4.
Robert William "Bob" Bellear was a social activist, lawyer and Australia's first Indigenous judge. He was a passionate advocate of public education and it's capacity to help people from all walks of life.
We were honoured to have Bob Bellear's grandson and Year 10 RBSC student, Tanna, give the acknowledgment to country. This was followed by Kaye Bellear, wife to the late Bob Bellear, cutting the official ribbon to mark the occasion. The Hon Gabrielle Upton MP (Member for Vaucluse) spoke warmly of the achievements of Bob Bellear and how the new library was a fitting commemoration of a life dedicated to helping others.
RBSC's new library is purpose built for future focused learning including interactive learning environments, collaborative working spaces and, already a big hit with our students, the whiteboard tables. We encourage all our students to come and use the new space and enjoy all it has to offer.
