After competition was postponed two weeks ago due to dangerous surf and strong winds, competitors couldn’t have asked for a much better day of surfing at Maroubra Beach on Tuesday June 18.
Low temperatures and rain made the morning unpleasant but the swell held at shoulder to head high with light offshore winds blowing throughout the day.
All our Senior Boys represented RBSC very well, however there were a couple of standout performances that deserve a mention.
Holden surfed well, but unfortunately could not find a decent back up wave at the end of his heat that would have seen him into the finals.
Luke was looking good in the quarterfinal and seemed a certainty to get a spot in the semi-finals until another surfer got a lucky wave in the final 8 seconds of the heat!
The controversy of the day was a questionable judging decision that saw Tom knocked out of the competition early after what locals were calling some of the best rail surfing ever seen at Maroubra.
The day ended with our very own World Champ Grayson taking out the Senior Boys title. Just one year after being titled the Junior Champion. Grayson also boasted the days highest heat total with an 8 and an 8.33, giving him a combined total of 16.33.
