Bell Shakespeare performs at RBSC

English teachers often complain that Shakespeare should be performed and enjoyed in a theatre; and not just read, sitting down, in a classroom.

It was then an absolute joy this week that RBSC senior English and Drama students were treated to the Bell Shakespeare performance of Shakespeare: The Human Experience. The energetic, fast-paced show  shone a light on humanities glories and flaws, and explored what it means to be human, both in Shakespeare's time, and today.

Key speeches and scenes from such plays as The Merchant of Venice, The TempestHamletRichard IIIOthelloHenry IV Part One explored ideas of love, greed, hate, ambition and guilt.

The students were utterly engaged in the performance and will no doubt bring into the classroom their experiences of seeing a live performance of some of Shakespeare's most memorable plays. Thank you to Christy Godby and Kim Strauss for arranging such an enriching experience for our students.
