The Great Book Swap at Rose Bay Secondary College

Great Book Swap

Can you imagine not being able to read a newspaper, a road sign or directions on a bottle of medication? Can you imagine a home without books, or a community without access to a library or bookshop? This is a reality faced by many Indigenous adults and children living in remote communities today.

Rose Bay Secondary College is proud to support The Indigenous Literacy Foundation in their mission to lift literacy levels of children living in isolated and remote Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

This year, RBSC is celebrating Indigenous Literacy Day and the UNESCO International Year of Indigenous Languages by holding The Great Book Swap on Wednesday September 4. We are asking students, parents and RBSC staff to go through your bookshelves and donate books you no longer need. They can be picture books, fiction for any age group, non-fiction books; we will take them! We only ask that they be in a decent condition with no missing pages. Bring your books to the B Block staff room and look for the blue box.

On Indigenous Literacy Day, students and staff will have the opportunity to grab themselves a book for a gold coin donation to help raise much needed funds to lift literacy levels for Indigenous children living in isolated and remote communities.

You can also make a direct donation to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation by clicking here. For any questions, please see Ms McGregor or Ms Buckley in the B Block staff room.
