Please follow the information in the email sent to you for details of how to make a booking through Sentral. It is advised that you do not book back to back interviews to allow transition time between teachers.
At Parent Teacher Night, parents/caregivers are often unsure of what questions to ask in the critical role that they play in their students' success.
For our 2020 virtual Parent Teacher Night we are using this as an opportunity to not only connect with students' families/carers but also an opportunity to give parents/caregivers some tools to improve communication with teachers, students and the school.
During the Parent Teacher Night, we encourage the conversation to be guided by the following questions:
- What is my child learning?
- How is she or he doing?
- How does the school monitor their progress (how she or he is doing)?
- How can she or he improve?
- What supports can I provide and can you provide if she or he is struggling? When will we check in again?
The following 5 questions have been created to assist parents/caregivers in engaging in their students' learning:
- What did you learn today?
- How did you do?
- What did you do if you didn't understand?
- How can you improve your learning?
- What are you most proud of?
These questions have been put together to create opportunities for informative conversations with students. It also provides families with a script for discussion with the students' teacher.
It is important to remember that:
"Parents are our learners first teachers. They can be hugely influential players in the learning for, with, and beside each student." ( Lyn Sharratt "Clarity: What Matters Most In Learning, Teaching and Leading" pg63)
